This will only be the third meeting twixt Weymouth FC and ourselves, and so far County are yet to register a win having lost both previous games in 2020-21.

A late shocker from Tom Whelan saw the Terras come back from a goal down to take all the points at Edgeley Park in October 2020, whilst a fourth minute score by Andy Dallas was enough in March this year to secure Weymouth the spoils, despite a season which saw them finish 18th in the National League.

County will hope to do better this time around!

The Terras have been at the Bob Lucas Stadium since 1987, and they have made significant progress up the UK Football Pyramid of recent seasons starting with winning the Southern League Title in 2018/19 , followed by victory in the National League South Play Off Final the season after.

This day will rank in infamy    with some of the darkest in our Club`s history- the owners of Stockport County have sacked Jim Gannon…..a dreadful decision......... totally bereft of merit, and one heralded by a shamefully inadequate announcement, as insulting to County fans as it is to Jim. Champions under Jim in our last completed season, fourth in the league after as impressive a win as any Club Chair could wish to witness from his team on Tuesday, despite the interrupted nature of the current season, and clearly playing well, so this smacks of something other than prudence or good decision making and as for being rational and fair………….. Wrexham 1 Stockport County 2 ( Vanarama National League) 31 August 2019

“Where`s the goals gonna come from”-is a familiar refrain from those wanting County to ship in a new striker every other week, and County once again fully answered that one with “ from almost everywhere” as goals from defenders Sam Minihan and Ash Palmer secured all the points at the Racecourse Ground today against Wrexham. A 2-0 County lead at half time seemed to signal a rout, but Wrexham fought well upon the re-start and made a real match of it , albeit that an imperious display by County`s superb back line limited them largely to shots from distance. The defensive display from JG`s boys, in the second 45 minutes, if somewhat hard on the nerves, was again excellent , but a late goal to the Welshmen made the last few minutes tenser than perhaps they should have been. Stockport County 4 Accrington Stanley 2 ( Football League 2) Saturday 20 April 2024

          A friend captured the situation nicely as we both descended the steps at the Cheadle End “ there are not many days like that” he said ,and he hit the spot perfectly, we had both just come away from a County game that finished as a party as County disposed of the challenge from Accrington Stanley with a comfortable 4-2 win, and the old place dissolved in a glorious mix of excitement, and emotion as the blues were presented with the League 2 Championship trophy! I say that it was comfortable, but I thought Accrington made a good fist of competing at times, in the end beaten by another clutch of top-class goals- 2 from Wootton , who I thought edged M.O.M ,and one each from   Evans and Sarcevic which did the biz for Dave Challinor`s boys. Their 8 th win in succession took County`s points tally with one match remaining to a mammoth 92 points- still 7 clear of the rest and set up a spectacularly good party on the pitch after the final whistle -more on this later in the repor
