Stockport County 0 AFC Fylde 4 ( Vanarama National League- North) 28 March 2016

This was always going to be a tough one…..another tough one….with high flying AFC Fylde in town, but….with Dave Challinor’s side firing on all cylinders from the off, County found themselves up against it in no uncertain fashion, in the end finishing on the wrong side of a 0-4 drubbing as the Coasters pushed on towards the play-offs. No disgrace in my eyes for a somewhat makeshift County side, but plenty of food for thought as JG prepares his plans for next season.   JG today ( by Andrew Machin )   So…… my personal pre match strategy was clear… was clean socks and the blue underpants for me as….buoyed by the news of the arrival of an endangered Visayan Warty Piglet at Newquay Zoo….. I set off for Edgeley Park. Most of those I spoke to pre match had a pretty similar approach to the game to myself - thinking that anything we could get from this one would be a good result, but with the news that Danny Lloyd, a player I have rated for yonks, was on

North Ferriby United 2 Stockport County 0 ( Vanarama National League -North) 26 March 2016

County’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt today, at the irritatingly named Eon Visual Media Stadium, where a no-nonsense set of bruisers from North Ferriby won the game 2-0, with second half goals from Wayne Brooksby and Tom Denton. To say it was not pretty, is to grossly misuse that hackneyed cliché ….at times it was distinctly X Certificate stuff as the home side laid into anyone in County blue with reckless abandon at times.    Andrew Machin catches JG in animated mood ! Only Ashley Palmer and Dan Hone found their way into Mr Brown’s book, but that was down more to the referee’s inclination to let `loads go’ than to any saintliness on the Humbersiders’ part. And…..the home team’s approach paid off handsomely when County’s best player, Danny Morton was forced off, after 55 minutes. Morton had been kicked from hill to burn throughout and so had Odejayi ,thus…… when he joined Morton , matters went pear shaped rather quickly for County, as an error by the Cou

The Madagascan Fat Tailed Dwarf Lemur has the amazing ability to put all its biological processes on hold for prolonged periods. This nifty hibernatory talent is currently interesting NASA, who rather fancy adapting the diminutive mammals abilities to enable them to get astronauts twixt Earth and Mars.  I must confess also that there have been times, in recent years, with County plunging ever deeper down the football pyramid, when some first hand knowledge of this nature would have been most useful to myself and others, to escape the angst prevailing in and around SK3. Not any more though…….and today saw JG’s County team serve up more reasons to be cheerful …..clawing their way back from a 0-1 deficit….a seemingly irretrievable situation , to win the game,in the most exciting of fashions, with two cracking goals, from Obi Anoruo and Big K Odejayi   deep into added time, in an absolutely pulsating finish.   Deep Joy for Big K ! That was truly excelle
