Oldham Athletic 0 Stockport County 2 ( Pre- Season Friendly ) 27 July 2019

County turned it on at rain- swept Boundary Park today comfortably seeing off Football League outfit Oldham Athletic with 2 first half goals. The 2-0 win, in no way flattered James Gannon`s men who now start their first season back in the National Premier on a massive high. It was a chillingly efficient performance from the green shirted blues, who struck with practised lethality before the home side had mentally changed into their playing kit.  Three minutes gone…..County were one up courtesy of a Palmer special! Palmer really IS special ! Then, after more than coping with everything that the Latics could throw at them thereafter…..with their opponents minds now drifting towards the dressing room …..the blues struck again via Sam Walker after the home keeper had struggled to hold Connor Dimaio`s shot with just 1 minute of the half left. That was quite simply …awesome, and long before the finish the home specs were deriding their teams

County made it 3 wins and a draw from 4 variously interesting and valuable pre- season outings last night with a 2-1 win against a lively Altrincham side. There were over 800 inside Moss Lane to see Neil Sorvel`s National North side give County a good game. With just one goal in it , they had a fighters chance, and did nick the only goal the Robins have managed against us for a while now, but James Gannon`s side had just enough oomph and know how to see the challenge off, coming back from being a goal down to win it via strikes from Connor Dimaio   in the first half, and Elliott Osborne after the break. Andrew Machin catches Dimaio . I made Dimaio County`s top man, always making himself available and looking for a chance to get a shot in, but JG must be pleased with the way both his candidates for the number ten spot continue to shine. For Robins I was impressed by Toby Mullarkey at the back and Nathan Arnold who gave County debutant Ben Jackson lots to
