The last
time old hedgie tipped up at the Giant Axe was in 2014 when Alan Lord's
Development Squad fought out a 2-2 draw against a most competitive Lancaster
side. Expect much the same competitive approach from Phil Brown's team this time around.
The Giant
Axe is an OK stadium with a good number of seats under cover, along with some
decently constructed terraces.
One thing to
look out for will be blokes blessed with biceps and forearms better developed
than those of Popeye.
They will be monks from the nearby Priory, and in this
respect take your ear plugs with you as in 2014 the monks stamina matched the volume of their output.
I had
enjoyed what had been my 3rd visit to the Giant Axe, but as I sped off
home just two thoughts would not go away......” Where” I wondered “ was the
location of the dormitory of the head honcho of the Priory?”......and “ Where
could I hire a mechanical digger to start up outside it?”
I joke of
course and recommend you make it to Lancaster to cheer County on.
Refreshments.
In 2014
`Dolly's Diner' provided the sustenance, and it was pretty good as I recall.
Not sure whether Dolly is still doing the biz, but I am sure that Lancaster have the issue covered!

Parking
Match day parking is available in the ground and, in dry conditions, on the playing field adjacent to the ground free of charge to all supporters. If the car park is full, exit the ground to the right to search for a spot in the near-by housing areas and roads. These areas and roads do not require a permit to park.
We do not
advise exiting left towards the train station and back into the city centre as
the majority of those roads are pay and display/permit only.
