Help the Hatters Update 28
We have not
rattled off a Help the Hatters Update for a while now, so with the present
season drawing to a close, and a new one is but the tiniest of specks on the
horizon, one is overdue and here it is.......
Since our
last missive John Fitzpatrick and John Gaskin have been elected to the Board of
the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative. Both stood as representatives of
Help the Hatters, and we wish them every success in the difficult months ahead.
Before this current season started, Help the Hatters ,acted to ensure that, in
the teeth of opposition from FL clubs,
County gained themselves an international player, when Under 18 International , Rhys Turner signed for the Club.
The ground breaking
agreement, since Rhys`s departure to Oldham Athletic ,has not only helped the
player but brought our Club, reward in the shape of the fee.
Help the Hatters wish
Rhys great good fortune in the future!
Meanwhile, we have agreed with the Club to assist once more in helping the Club reward
young players Bobby Lofthouse, Scott Duxbury and Chris Churchman with improved
contracts.– again action designed to benefit player and Club, and as a result
the players concerned should all be signed up by July 2014!
Positive action
indeed....as was the decision to support Helen Judge, a
young blind women ,who planned to walk
the Sahara Desert in March 2014 for a charity which does research into Visual
Impairment.
We
joined with the Supporters Coop to donate between us, £500 to Helen`s
cause.
So...you can see from all this that we have not been idle and
there`s lots of stuff on the horizon that we plan to ask you to engage with.
If you have tried to log onto the Help the Hatters web site
recently you may well have come across this.....
NEW WEBSITE COMING SOON!
Well the information is correct and the exciting news is that
Mike Jebelli has agreed to upgrade the Help the Hatters web site, something that has been long
overdue. So
....keep an eye out for developments!
Now then ......you will be pining to get down to some hard
graft knowing you, dear reader, so here`s what`s planned for the immediate
future- hard graft wise!
Car Boots.
Angela Moore
has already got things moving on this one, and subject to getting the relevant
licences, the following dates have provisionally been agreed on for the events
at Booth Street Car Park.
6
April.......18 April.....5 May......25 May
These are
all labour intensive affairs, so await the call from Angela and please
volunteer to help if you can.
Working
Parties at Edgeley Park.
These are
very popular and have attracted goodly numbers in the past as we have painted
and renovated just about everything that did not move at EP of an evening. You
will be pleased to hear that we will again be holding W.P `s in the close
season, so await the call again- most likely from myself!
Social
Evening.
This will go
ahead, probably on Friday 2 May, at the Magnet on the A6.
A band will
be booked, and possibly a SCAN presentation will be arranged. You will be fed,
and the intention is to offer a free taxi facility on the night to ensure
nobody mixes the drinks with the driving! Put this one in your diary!
Legends.
Other stuff
under consideration........Help the Hatters are to enquire about renovation of
the EP digital clock- with a view possibly to taking ownership of
same............ we also are pondering the idea of running a Coffee & Cake Shop
at EP – an interesting idea. Let us know what you think of this ( and any
other) items!
We are not
going to produce a Year Book this time around. With much goodwill from
supporters we managed to just break even last season with this one, so with the
avoidance of incurring a loss making situation in mind, we will not be doing
the biz with this one this year.
It can be
reported that the blog is on schedule to hit 100000 page views within its first 12 months of
life- currently the numbers are 74000+ with 3 months to go . So.....with income
from the ads starting to accrue, things are looking OK....keep visiting
though for match reports ....Help the Hatters Updates.....news/ views and much
much more. On this front the Man in a Hat offers his final missive of the
season from North Ferriby in early April, so that`s something else to look forward
too!
Ian Brown
