George- The Museums Opened !
Following a monumental amount of work by Help the
Hatters , at last the day arrived when the much vaunted County Museum would be
a reality!
Happily the
day coincided with the 102nd birthday of County Legend George Haigh, who
...even happier.....was due to open the Museum at 7.15 that day!
Preparations
were well advanced and the Museum was looking brilliant ahead of George's
arrival.
The spanking
new signage over the entrance was unveiled and looked a treat( see above)........... and a
spot on Hardcastle Road had been reserved for our hero........
And the
presentation area was ready for the short opening ceremony.....
Not long
after 6 o'clock George arrived.......
....and was
soon settling in ...chatting with the locals.......
....sampling
his favourite tipple Guinness.....
A chat with
County Director Steve Bellis......
and it was time for George to open the Museum.
A word or
two from John Fitzpatrick....
...was
followed by a neat response from George , and an excellent event was completed,
and George could head off for a pint at a local hostelry.
All the hard work has now borne fruit in the form of a great facility that showcases, and will serve the Club magnificently for years to come.
To close here are some additional photos , the final 3
of which have been kindly supplied by Gordon Cundhill.
