Help the Hatters Update 37 ( Water ,Water....Everywhere !)
Working
Party 9
It
started as just another normal, run of the mill, Help the Hatters Tuesday
evening ....a heady mix of paint and elbow grease!
I had badgered the life
out of our contacts in the days before and they responded brilliantly with 24
on site doing the biz, in an attempt to get the beloved stadium in good nick
for Flynny`s testimonial on Friday the 18th July.
Much good work had been
done on Saturday, when a smaller party set about painting
the Hardcastle Road
frontage, with the aid of a cherry picker, but with AL`s boys back in training last night, and their cars parked the length
of the road, it was clear that the final touches would have to wait until another,
none training night, possibly Wednesday next week July 9.
Inside Edgeley Park the
pace quickened with a large number tackling the Pop Side, and the Pop Side
gates. I can proudly report that work was pretty close to 100% completed successfully on the
former Barlow Stand.
Elsewhere Kip continued to
paint the changing room corridor area and is nearing completion, as is Darren
with the bits and bobs in front of the
Main Stand- only the walkway now needs further attention, and this is on
Darren`s radar, and Ralph kept up the good work with the scoreboard.
A small start was also
made to the Cheadle End where the Disabled section was given a coat of paint.
Help the Hatters would like to make the Cheadle End the target next Tuesday, so
with it being far and away the largest stand in the stadium, we will need a big
turnout to ensure we complete the work- please make a note to be there....don`t
miss out on the big push.
A normal...run of the mill
Tuesday evening session then, except it wasn`t...as ,following a short break
for refreshments,
Help the Hatters were joined by a contingent of local firemen
who , along with Liam Cash, very generously stepped in to ensure the pitch got
some water before the season opened.
I cannot stress enough how brilliant this
gesture was, but I can assure the off duty firemen that it was greatly
appreciated by supporters of the Club. The pitch, with the sprinklers, pending
remedial work, out of action, badly needed this life saving action
...so.....well done and thank you lads!( See Additional Gallery for further pics)

So, after taking in the heady news that County had signed 50 goals in 102 games ( for Hyde) England C International Scott Spencer,
Danny Hurst in spectacular action! |
and fans favourite at Southport Danny Hurst- a vastly experienced and capable keeper , and with 9p.m upon us, it was time to clear up......go home...and cheer the USA on against mighty Belgium, but not before agreeing to meet again for more of the same on Tuesday 8th at 18.30.
If any additional sessions become necessary I
will advise!
