Help the Hatters Update 30
Help the
Hatters and Matthew Todd.
Saturday
just gone not only saw an excellent win for County, but also saw Help the
Hatters confirm another initiative aimed at supporting Alan Lord in his work to
see the Club make progress on the park.
Matthew Todd pre game at North Ferriby. |
Matthew Todd
is a young player who has caught the County Manager`s eye, and Help the Hatters
have agreed to meet the cost of Matthews wages for next season. That is the
full extent of it....there is no `claw back’ clause as with the highly successful
Rhys Turner deal, but again we felt that it is another move worth making and
one likely to benefit Club and player!
Car Boot
Sales.
Help the
Hatters are now well into their stride with a season of Car Boot Sales at the
Booth Street Car Park.
Sunday 6
April saw Help the Hatters in action early doors as Angela Moore`s team swung
into action. It was an early start for some of the team, who were on site circa
06.00....a time when more prudent......perhaps saner beings are still abed!
Yes....there was an impenetrable darkness abroad as the gates were opened , almost
smack on 6, to allow the first of the booters to set up.
Err....well it was 06.00!!!!! |
The weather
was less than excellent it must be said, and booter numbers were down, largely
due to the weather forecast which pitched the likely climatic scene around
Booth Street somewhere twixt uncontrollable tsunami and welly defeating
monsoon.
Never the less those on site selling seemed to do pretty well, and
from a Help the Hatters angle it was another organisational masterpiece- so
well done Angela and her team!
Team Moore..... |
Next up was
Friday 18th April, and being a Bank Holiday this event had booters
and punters there in numbers in the sunshine. Unfortunately we had to
disappoint some, as there was no on site swimming facility available, but maybe
later in the year!
Disappointed swimming enthusiasts! |
A massive vote
of thanks is due to Angela and everyone who turned out on either occasion. Of
course there`s another Car Boot due, and it`s this week end- Bank Holiday
Monday May 5, again starting at 06.00 and running until 13.00. The end of
season kit sale will be on at E.P run by Richard Landon during the day so why
not `do’ both?
John Gaskin surveys the scene....... |
But.....if
you can help out at any stage on that date please let Angela know via either of
the following:-

Edgeley
Park Working Parties.
In Update 29 I indicated that the popular Working Parties
at E.P. would re-commence once the season was over. Well.....that is very much
still the case and to this end a preliminary assessment has been made, in
cooperation with Graham, of just what is needed to be done.
Work is likely to
commence in about 3 weeks time when all the post season Cup and friendly games
are finished on the hallowed turf, so await the call and join these friendly
sessions that help the Club enormously whilst being somewhat therapeutic
Stockport County Supporters Cooperative.
At the recent members meeting it was confirmed that
the Supporters Cooperative now had over 550 members- a massive increase in a
relatively short time, and I would urge those Help the Hatters supporters that
have not yet decided to join the Coop to please consider doing so! If the
shambolic absurdity of the Clubs recent history has taught us one thing, it is
that there is a real need for the Club to engage with its supporters, and the
way to do that, in my opinion, is through the strongest and most viable
supporters group ......and that is the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative!
Supporters Coop Board at recent meeting! |
Help the Hatters are of course fully supportive of
the Supporters Cooperative and have 2 representatives on the Coop Board namely
John Gaskin and John Fitzpatrick, who are keen to promote practical projects in
support, and in the best interest of the Club.
We look forward to much fruitful cooperation in the
future!
Meanwhile there are a couple of Supporters
Cooperative events you might consider supporting.....
18th May at Power league.......a Five a
Side Football Tournament.
Andy Plant is running this and has asked whether HtH
might run a team. I myself am altogether too long in the tooth and greatly too
delicate a bloom to turn out and play, but if there is anyone out there that
fancies raising a team in the HtH name and giving it a go please do not
hesitate. If you do though let me know via madhatterib@virginmedia.com and I
will publicise.
21st June
at Edgeley Park.....Comedy Night.
This is great value at £12.50 a throw so why not
give it a try...it`s in a good cause namely the Supporters Cooperative, and if
you are a member there`s a £2.50 discount!

We are currently heading towards 90000 hits in this
the eleventh month of our existence, so...with over 160 articles published, I
felt a quick idea of who is reading the material would be of interest.

As far as
referring sites are concerned, I am grateful for support of Marionsboad. County
Heaven, Yellowboard and Vital Stockport (all linked via our Favourite Sites
Column), and I am pleased to say that
fans from Clubs up and down the Conference North have regularly viewed our
pages- Altrincham doing so in fairly hefty numbers at times. The blog has covered a fair few Youth Team
games this year and I aim to keep that going in the season to come, whilst
maybe taking in some of the Ladies team games as well( and a tour of China ?).
Please keep
reading!
