Let`s Hear it For Adama & Benoni !

A short piece, by County Historian Ian Watts ,which  gives this blog the opportunity to join Ian in loudly applauding two young men who have now been capped at full international level whilst with the Hatters.

 

 

Congratulations to both County players who, over the last few days, have joined the list of players to feature for their country's senior international team whilst on the books of Stockport County.

Adama had already played several times for Gambia before joining us in January, but in a closed door friendly versus Turkey on Friday he started against World Cup qualifiers Iran. Sadly, he had to be substituted in the first half due to injury, as his teammates lost 3-1 after leading at the break.

 

Meanwhile around 1 o'clock GMT on Sunday our young Icelandic striker Benoný Breki Andrésson made his first step up from the U21s, coming on after 72 minutes at Japan's national stadium for his debut full international appearance.

 

 

 

 The hosts scored late on to win the game, but Iceland have a further friendly that may see our striker face Argentina in the USA on 9 June.
