Jim & Fitzy Kick Start Help the Hatters Toy Appeal and Nick Takes a Hand Too!

Put Jim Gannon & John Fitzpatrick together in a room and usually something good will come out of it.

And so it is that we can confirm that Jim has donated 3 County shirts from season 2006-7 framed together, from his private collection.


 

Fitzy and Jim are as excited as us knowing that we are auctioning this fine piece of County memorabilia in support of Help the Hatters toy appeal for Francis House children’s hospice and children in need in Stockport, that the magnificent Handy Ladies Feeding the Community will identify for us.

Also on offer, along with the shirts, a football  signed  by County`s National League Championship winning  team  from last season. This terrific item has been kindly donated by Nick Clarke who does such fine work via his Stroke Information charity and other worthy causes.

Help the Hatters Auction in Support of Francis House Children`s Hospice & Children in Need in Stockport.

Our auction has now reached a conclusion, and we can advise that the successful offers were as follows:-

Football Signed by County`s National League Champions - £120

3 County Shirts From 2006-07 Framed Together- £400.

Help the Hatters would like to thank the supporters who made the 2 successful offers , all the unsuccessful bidders and of course Jim Gannon and Nick Clarke for donating two superb  items of County memorabilia.

This effort will help massively in our ongoing campaign to provide toys at Xmas to the children in Francis House and elsewhere , so , again-thank you !

Simply Disgraceful ! This day will rank in infamy    with some of the darkest in our Club`s history- the owners of Stockport County have sacked Jim Gannon…..a dreadful decision......... totally bereft of merit, and one heralded by a shamefully inadequate announcement, as insulting to County fans as it is to Jim. Champions under Jim in our last completed season, fourth in the league after as impressive a win as any Club Chair could wish to witness from his team on Tuesday, despite the interrupted nature of the current season, and clearly playing well, so this smacks of something other than prudence or good decision making and as for being rational and fair………….. Sadly the Club`s owners rather added to the anger their foolish decision has already triggered, by stating that the decision was not results based, but based on `culture`.   Jim is a proven quality Manager , who knows what it takes to make County tick, has done so many times in the past, and   has forgotten more about Co

Wrexham 1 Stockport County 2 ( Vanarama National League) 31 August 2019

“Where`s the goals gonna come from”-is a familiar refrain from those wanting County to ship in a new striker every other week, and County once again fully answered that one with “ from almost everywhere” as goals from defenders Sam Minihan and Ash Palmer secured all the points at the Racecourse Ground today against Wrexham. A 2-0 County lead at half time seemed to signal a rout, but Wrexham fought well upon the re-start and made a real match of it , albeit that an imperious display by County`s superb back line limited them largely to shots from distance. The defensive display from JG`s boys, in the second 45 minutes, if somewhat hard on the nerves, was again excellent , but a late goal to the Welshmen made the last few minutes tenser than perhaps they should have been. Stockport County 4 Accrington Stanley 2 ( Football League 2) Saturday 20 April 2024

          A friend captured the situation nicely as we both descended the steps at the Cheadle End “ there are not many days like that” he said ,and he hit the spot perfectly, we had both just come away from a County game that finished as a party as County disposed of the challenge from Accrington Stanley with a comfortable 4-2 win, and the old place dissolved in a glorious mix of excitement, and emotion as the blues were presented with the League 2 Championship trophy! I say that it was comfortable, but I thought Accrington made a good fist of competing at times, in the end beaten by another clutch of top-class goals- 2 from Wootton , who I thought edged M.O.M ,and one each from   Evans and Sarcevic which did the biz for Dave Challinor`s boys. Their 8 th win in succession took County`s points tally with one match remaining to a mammoth 92 points- still 7 clear of the rest and set up a spectacularly good party on the pitch after the final whistle -more on this later in the repor
