County served up a top notch pre Yule booster for their travelling army of over 400 supporters at the Hive on the last occasion County fans were allowed in to watch at the Hive-  a sensational late burst of scoring from now ex Hatters Osborne & Mulhern securing a brilliant 2-1 victory, after trailing , until late, to Darren Currie`s Barnet side.

It is entirely possible to enjoy a visit to this nicely appointed stadium, and County fans have turned out in large numbers, and done just that  a time or two previously. The stewarding threatened to spoil an otherwise good day for County supporters last time out, but hopefully this aspect will not be a factor for our visit this time.

 


 

 

 


The header photo is of the Legends Stand that houses 2684, which accommodates home specs as do the Bumbles Family Stand and the covered Bees Terrace.

Away support is accommodated under the roof of Stand 66 which houses almost 2000…..

M1 ( to J4)

A41( Harrow/ Edgware)

3rd exit @r`about onto Spur Road ( A410)

Then at next r`about take A5 for 300 metres

Then go right at lights onto Camrose Avenue,

The Hive is on the right.

Liquid Refreshment:-

 

It is worth noting that Stand 66 houses Bar 66 so there is scope there at the Hive for a drink, and some real ale too, but alternatives are available and hedgegrower points you in the direction of  these 2 spots . These are a tad far off but the nearest known selling decent ale outside the Hive.

This day will rank in infamy    with some of the darkest in our Club`s history- the owners of Stockport County have sacked Jim Gannon…..a dreadful decision......... totally bereft of merit, and one heralded by a shamefully inadequate announcement, as insulting to County fans as it is to Jim. Champions under Jim in our last completed season, fourth in the league after as impressive a win as any Club Chair could wish to witness from his team on Tuesday, despite the interrupted nature of the current season, and clearly playing well, so this smacks of something other than prudence or good decision making and as for being rational and fair………….. “Where`s the goals gonna come from”-is a familiar refrain from those wanting County to ship in a new striker every other week, and County once again fully answered that one with “ from almost everywhere” as goals from defenders Sam Minihan and Ash Palmer secured all the points at the Racecourse Ground today against Wrexham. A 2-0 County lead at half time seemed to signal a rout, but Wrexham fought well upon the re-start and made a real match of it , albeit that an imperious display by County`s superb back line limited them largely to shots from distance. The defensive display from JG`s boys, in the second 45 minutes, if somewhat hard on the nerves, was again excellent , but a late goal to the Welshmen made the last few minutes tenser than perhaps they should have been.           A friend captured the situation nicely as we both descended the steps at the Cheadle End “ there are not many days like that” he said ,and he hit the spot perfectly, we had both just come away from a County game that finished as a party as County disposed of the challenge from Accrington Stanley with a comfortable 4-2 win, and the old place dissolved in a glorious mix of excitement, and emotion as the blues were presented with the League 2 Championship trophy! I say that it was comfortable, but I thought Accrington made a good fist of competing at times, in the end beaten by another clutch of top-class goals- 2 from Wootton , who I thought edged M.O.M ,and one each from   Evans and Sarcevic which did the biz for Dave Challinor`s boys. Their 8 th win in succession took County`s points tally with one match remaining to a mammoth 92 points- still 7 clear of the rest and set up a spectacularly good party on the pitch after the final whistle -more on this later in the repor
