Off to Vegas to Visit County Legend Jim Fryatt !
I`ll open with a question…..who wouldn`t
want to travel to Vegas to spend time with County Legend Jim Fryatt?
Jim……a real legend and no mistake who scored goals for fun wherever he played or
whom so ever he turned out for.
Jim made 46 appearances for County
scoring 29 goals( Inc 1 in 1974) before being snapped up by First Division
Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn knew a brilliant player
when they saw one , and Jim was that and more. He could head a ball harder than
most players could manage to kick it , and was a massive favourite with County
fans before the bank leaned on County to part company with one of the best
players ever to draw on a County shirt.
His career ( including later appearances in NASL)spanned
552 games in which he amassed an
impressive tally of 205 goals, and Jim still holds the Football League record
for the fastest goal, which he scored within an amazing 4 seconds of the kick off
when playing for Bradford v Tranmere in 1967.

Back to the question I posed earlier then, and for long standing County fan Gordon Cundill, it was a no brainer- it was his birthday and he wanted to spend it in Jim`s company, so he promptly upped sticks and trotted off ( with some `help`
from United Airways) to Vegas both to celebrate his birthday and to see County
Legend Jim Fryatt and his wife Val.
Having bought ( with friends)the County
`Help for Heroes` shirt for Jim last year, Gordon looked to take it with him , but it also occurred to him that Val's maiden name was Stott, and it would be nice to get another shirt to go
with the no 9 Fryatt item.
Thus….in concert with Phil Robinson a second shirt was bought with
`Stott` emblazoned on the back.
These photos are from Gordon`s last night in Vegas.
With the Gilley Girls who were good sports, and were happy to have a photo
taken.
Then Gordon`s good friend DJ Caffeine took a photo of outside Treasure Island, a very happy Gordon
on his last night over the pond.
That looked like a really good
holiday ( despite hassle and a delayed
flight home )…and the County shirts
delivered to very appreciative Jim and Val Fryatt, and hedgegrower thanks GC
for this insight.
If hedgegrower is unsure as to
whether or when Gordon will next be off to visit Jim and Val, he is certain
that if/ when that happens County supporters will be kept abreast of
happenings.
Meanwhile we wish Jim and Val good health and happiness !
