Macclesfield Town 2 Stockport County 0 ( Friendly) 30 July 2016

County took a trip up the A6 to take on Cheshire neighbours , Macclesfield Town from the National Premier at the Moss Rose today. The result was probably predictable as the full timers ran out 2-0 winners, but the game , whilst seldom threatening to thrill and excite, was never the less a good work out for County against opponents considered to be their betters. County battled hard, and …although they   certainly missed the influential Courtney Meppen- Walter, they never looked totally outclassed at all, despite leaking the opening goal in the first few minutes of the game. A second followed in a second half that saw County put Town under a fair bit of pressure, including one effort from Scott Spencer that was hurried off the line by a defender after thudding into both posts with the keeper beaten. In short, as I say, it was a good work out, and Jim now knows what’s what when Meppen-Walter is not in the mix. Minihan was top man for me with another good sh

Stockport County 2 Wigan Athletic Under 21's 1( Friendly) 26 July 2016

It was a bit cooler at Edgeley Park last night, but ….on the pitch the football was as hot and watchable as ever as County overcame another pre-season hurdle in the shape of Championship club Wigan Athletic’s Under 21 side. Wigan sent a decent squad to hopefully see off the blues, and they looked a side that could play a bit at times. Kesi Omolokun did his level best to stem the County tide throughout the game, and was the visitors’ top man along with keeper Nicholls, spending virtually the whole of his time deep in the Lancashire clubs territory fending off the efforts of the likes of Danny Lloyd, Scott Duxbury and Courtney Meppen-Walter all of whom were in rampant form. Lloyd was in Wigan faces from the first minute until the 63 rd when he was substituted. Kesi Omolokun-  top performer with Nicholls for Wigan!  His absence thereafter did not reduce the threat factor however as Duxbury just increased the revs some more down the left, powering his way into t
