York Street is a decent
old ground that has seen better days.
What to expect
however depends on where Boston decide to dump us this season.
In 2013/14 we were
tucked into a corner behind the goals , at the Club Shop End with only
challenging pasties or similar on offer to sustain us, whereas in
2014/15 we got a good view from the covered terrace at the
Town End, but they might have made an effort and scraped off the half a ton of
Guano that some winged beasts had deposited over the decades!
Stewarding was largely
relaxed, but it was irritating to see the 70 year old bloke in front of me body
frisked at the turnstiles. “ Looking for flares” they offered in explanation, but no one explained why I was
allowed in with bag on back immediately after that guy ,and was not even
glanced at!
Oh....and the floodlights
were quaint...the largest pylons I can recall seeing...but with a mere 6 lights
on each!
Sustenance!
At the Town End there was a very decent
menu available for our delectation. If you have ever had it at a football
ground....it was listed there! I am told the burgers were good, and the prices
were `reasonable’ not `rip off’. I made a pig of myself.....consuming pasty and
coffee at 2pm, followed by pasty and chips at 3.45.Imagine my deep joy at
finding some carrot in the mush of potato and `meat’....I was beside myself but
slightly less so with the chips which though not soggy had the appearance and
consistency the rivets you used to see piled up at quay side in old films of
Harland and Woolfe`s hayday.
Programme.
For £3,you got 60 odd pages, which were
attractively produced and full of the usual programme stuff. An above average
product!
