Neil Young's Gold Rush- The Presentation !

It was quite a neat do at the Bung tonight where Neil Young was on hand to receive the cheque from Lee Worrall, the originator of the `Neil Young Gold Rush' idea.

Not content with turning up and taking the dosh, the County Manager, rearranged training for the County team switching it to Edgeley Park to ensure that each and every one of them could make it to the Bung......and to their great credit....that's exactly what they did! Brilliant stuff lads !

The turnout from County was excellent as along with NY and his players all the Management team made an appearance along with Steve Bellis, Garry Burton and Simon Dawson( of whom more later).

A decent turnout of County supporters ensured that by the time SB had opened proceedings the place was buzzing.

Straight off, after some words from SB it was time for  Lee Worrall to be introduced to the packed Bung, and Lee did the biz presenting the cheque to Neil Young- a fitting end to a brilliant effort by County fans!

Responding Neil Young thanked the supporters for their magnificent gesture, and promised a suitably up beat performance from his County team in response, at Curzon Ashton on Saturday.

Onwards.....to the raffle and a touch of controversy as Simon Dawson won the raffle.

Credit though to County's Commercial Manager, he reacted quickly  to head off a riot, by putting the prize ( Director for a Day would you believe?)up for auction . At £105 ....bidding was exhausted and none other than Ian Lancashire claimed the honour!

Final action before the players departed the scene, was the draw for the Mascot prize for the last game of the season, and...entirely appropriately.... this was snapped up by young Jack Gradwell, who accepted his prize from John Gaskin.

A few well chosen words from Help the Hatters Treasurer Mike Hopper, who pointed out the massive contribution made via the pods, the Bung pint levy and regular donations to the Players Fund effort by County supporters,  and more from Steve Bellis and that was an excellent evening done and dusted!

Oh......" and what of the pie and peas" I hear you exclaim, and I can report that they went down a treat. I had a stab late on and agreed with the general consensus- top notch scran! Massive thanks then to Barbara, Jules and Angela and John G from Help the Hatters for doing the honours with the food, Great stuff as usual!
