Blossoms and the Mantells wow the Bung !
Friday 6
February was a fabulous first for Help the Hatters and the Supporters
Cooperative who were absolutely overjoyed to welcome Blossoms and the Mantells
to the Bungalow Club adjacent to Edgeley Park , Stockport.
This was
merely a warm up date for top band Blossoms, and a second chance for the
Mantells to showcase their talent at the Bung, but it was a very big date as
far as supporters of both groups who made it in numbers to the venue on a damp
evening.
Queues formed
early as the desire to not miss the rare opportunity to catch these rising
talents took hold.
The hall was soon up to capacity and it was time to get the
gig on the move with Danny Add doing the opening honours with a lively acoustic
set.
Next on were
the Mantells for their second appearance at the Bung, and they went down really
well......the driving beat of `How to Say It’ getting things nicely on the go.
It is fair
to say that the Bung is a challenge to even the best in the business, the
acoustics and electrics not wholly conducive to top grade performances, but the
Mantells did an excellent job of dealing with this , making a real impression
with debut single ` Men in Suits’.
The place
was buzzing by the time that top band Blossoms took to the stage, the gig being
used as warm up prior to their World Tour, taking in the USA and Japan.
Stockport
was an altogether different prospect to playing either of those destinations,
but if the band get a better reception than they did on Friday ,they will be
set fair.
They had 200 or so on their feet and loving every minute of it
........`Cut me and I`ll Bleed’ ( the latest single), was in the mix....as was `You
Pulled a Gun on Me’, and loads of other stuff that sounded fantastic , despite
all the issues mentioned above.
It was great
to see Blossoms and the Mantells at the Bung, and we wish them well for what we
know will be brilliantly successful futures.
And....finally...a word of thanks to Christine and Phil who pulled out all the organisational stops to get the gig on....fantastic !
