For those coming to the New Windmill Ground (NWG) for the first time, please note that although there is parking for approximately 350 vehicles, there is NO alternative 'on street parking', as we are located on a busy country road with no pavements and surrounded by farmland.

  1. The Ground has changed somewhat since your last visit. There is now a new covered terrace at the nearside of the far end where 100 or so can congregate and make some noise; a new toilet block; and new catering facilities. Pies are available (not as good as up north and limited stocks), after all we are in burger, chips and hot-dog country. Try a Bertie Special (2 burgers, bacon, cheese and onion in a bun/bap/barm/cob/batch). I don't know if an alternative outside caterer is being acquired this time around. Unlike last year, drinking will only be permitted inside the bar and patio area.

Drums are still banned thanks to the witch across the field, but feel free to bang the stand as the stewards love it ;)

The two real ale pubs listed are fair enough (althogh not necessarily the cheapest). See www.awayer.co.uk for a fuller list - and perhaps a Fuller's list! The Railway, TJ's (Dorothy Goodbody and Butty Bach on handpull last week) and Jug & Jester (up to 8 handpulls) are also very good. These are both close to the rail station and very good for those who arrive early and have time on their hands.

    Enjoy your trip!
