What a week! What with the Domesday Clock`s minute hand edging its way perilously close to Armageddon time- reaching 11.57 for the first time since the US and the Ruskies were at loggerheads   in `83.......and the Tony Bliar induced delays in dear old Lord C`s enquiry, I was not a happy bunny.....only the news from Germany   on Thursday that a court in Dusseldorf had ruled that,   after all the doubt surrounding the subject, men categorically had the right to pee standing up, saved me from going into pre-match angst melt down!   Some of the Brakes support in the Bung..... I was relieved.......and made my way to Edgeley Park, via the Bung, for our latest battle for 3 points, this time against Leamington.   120 gave decent support too.   I felt that a win was on the cards for County, and in the event, County survived a second half wobble to make it so, eventually securing 3 valuable points by the relatively secure margin ...

Help the Hatters Update 55

I wasn`t expecting many to turn out on Tuesday......probably just the usual suspects, but shortly after 10 o`clock came the first surprise with the arrival of Broderick Harley ( IHATEMANCITY off MB). It was gratifying to hear Broderick confirm that ` I have read all about the work done at the Bungalow, and came with my wife the previous Saturday, and I was impressed by the fantastic change in the place, so here I am!’   Broderick gets stuck in..... That was simply excellent, but it continued with the arrival next of Wayne Bennett, brother of Lee, whose life we sadly celebrated at EP and in the Bungalow last week. Wayne had been speaking to Fitzy last Saturday, and let slip that he was ` something of a handyman’ and was roped in! Both Broderick and Wayne were soon in the swing of things....both donning the forensics all body overalls before setting to work. All the work, supervised by John Gaskin, concentrated on the oft times referred to `problem wall’ , whi...

A proud announcement from SCAN Guardians...... On behalf of the SCAN guardians, I am delighted to be able to announce that we will be holding a 50th anniversary reunion of the 1964-65 County team. This will take place on Sat 7th February 2015 (the closest date to the 3rd Feb 1965 when we played Liverpool at EP). Following many months work and research I can confirm that we have been able to find all of the surviving players and the families of those who have passed away. On what will be a fantastic day of celebration and commemoration we will welcome back the team for the first time in 50 years. Those confirmed include Mulhearn, Eckersall, Sandiford, Hodgkinson, Harold, Phoenix, Beighton, Parry, Peacock and Watt. We will have representatives of the families of Trevor Porteous,Frank Beaumont, groundsman Harold Allcock and most poignantly John Nibloe. Sadly despite our best efforts we have not been able to find family of the late Len White but we shall...

Gainsborough Trinity 2 County 0 ( Conference North ) 17 January 2015

If you thought perhaps that Aladdin at the Palladium or the Plaza`s Cinderella production were quite the best pantomimes that you have seen, you would have clocked a better one at Gainsborough this afternoon where joke referee Paul Marsden reduced a close game to a laughable farce, by sending 2 County players off for   not fouling their opponents- both Fagbola and Wilkinson were just unlucky enough to be the one in white nearest to the one in blue as he went to ground. Both were gross injustices, so....the team that sat atop the Non League Paper`s Fair Play League last week, had to play large chunks of the game with 9 men.     Early action. It was 0-0, and Trinity were attacking when the first calumny was perpetrated. The box was crowded with players when Paul Beesley went all limp and flopped lifelessly to the floor. County cleared it, but ......no matter the referee quickly pointed to the spot, sending Fagbola off for good measure. The pen...
