County 1 Workington 1 ; Conference North

Danny Bergara Stand Today. Winning 3 games inside 7 days proved a bridge too far for County, who were held to a 1-1 draw for the second time this season by a lively Workington side looking to improve their recent dismal league form at Edgeley Park. In the main they did this, claiming the point and looking the better side for much of the game. County stuck at it however, and came more into the game the later it got, but in the end, despite another terrific performance from Scott Duxbury ( deservedly M.O.M), and solid displays by the impressive Cowen , Jacobs, and to a lesser extent Fagbola    - a draw it was .That was not a bad result all things considered, although it probably would have been altogether better had not injury forced striker Rhys Turner to be substituted after less than 10 minutes!    Rhys Turner The injury resulted from an unpunished foul in the box by Workington, and without the ex Myerscough College lad`s pace County were al...

County 4 Bradford Park Avenue 1 : Conference North

There was unmistakeable evidence that Alan Lord`s blue and white band wagon is beginning to roll slowly forward at Edgeley Park today, as Stockport County claimed another welcome 3 points whilst disposing of Bradford Park Avenue by 4-1. If the opposition was not all that it might have been, County went about their work in an exemplary professional manner, never being in danger of losing their lead thanks to another good team showing. Team showing did I say? Platt, in for Moses, was heartwarmingly busy throughout, as was Turner, who`s pace threatened to undo the Yorkshire side more than once. Young Rhys scored one too, and a typically good finish it was too, earning him the sponsors M.O.M award, but Scott Du...

Sea of Blue- A Historic March points to the Future!

Stockport County can add another date to the fulsome list of historic moments for the Club......Saturday 21 st December 2013- the day when County supporters united and took to the streets of the Borough to save their beloved Club. It was a massive occasion with nearly 500 marching - a truly awesome sight as they swung left from Castle Street towards Edgeley Park.  The route taken was steeped in history starting at the Nursery Inn, the place where County( then Heaton Norris Rovers)changed when the Club moved to Green Lane in 1888- taking in the Wycliffe Congregational Church   whose members ,in 1883, first formed the Club, and going past the sight of the temperance bar ( sadly not there now)where their plans were first hatched-on past Stockport`s Town Hall to Edgeley Park. There was so much history involved that it was tempting to forget that it was County`s future that was at the forefront of marchers minds, as much as our historic past. Steve Gibb...
