Pauline Coddington.

Image
It is with great sadness that I tell you that Pauline Coddington, a staunch Stockport County supporter, died this week. Pauline was a talented Textile Artist specialising in hand carded felted goods and fibre art, and as a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, taught Felt Making very successfully. Pauline edited her own blog under her username `Hawkgreenfelts’ but also was a long time valued contributor to this Blog on which she penned many a fine article on a variety of subjects. For some years Pauline was a much respected part of the Help the Hatters family, supporting the group both financially and via the various Working Parties which she joined in with. The photo heading this obituary is Pauline in action at such a WP, Pauline is 7th from the left at the back. Below is a pic of Pauline presenting a SCAN certificate to Mick Andrews , a descendant of 1903-04 player Dick Ray, at Doncaster station. Help the Hatters Chairman John Fitzpat...

County 2 Colwyn Bay FC 1 ; ( FA Trophy 3QR) 29 November 2014

Image
County progressed to the first round proper in the FA Trophy with a 2-1 victory against Conference North rivals Colwyn Bay at Edgeley Park today. For a time it looked a shoo-in with County 2 up before the break and Bay looking ragged and toothless. The break did the visitors the power of good however, and they then came out to play as a consequence, pulling one back and enjoying a volume of possession they could but dream of in the first half. Having said that, County did defend well, and might have scored themselves once or twice more....in fact they looked to have done just that via a Sharp header , which I am still at a loss to understand just why it was ruled out! It was though, and a game possibly won became one possible to lose, but again County`s defensive qualities saw them through with O`Halloran fully justifying his M.O.M award, but Gregson and the increasingly impressive Lees were not that far behind in a team expertly marshalled by captain Jamie Milligan. ...

County v Colwyn Bay FA Trophy Preview

COUNTY v COLWYN BAY Time for another brief break from the Vanarama Conference North and an opportunity to improve on a fairly poor FA Trophy record. In the three year since County first played in the competition that has been running since 1969 they have lost in their first tie twice, recording just 1 win in 7 attempts. OPPOSITION FORM Colwyn Bay's last five results are: 1 Nov A v Brackley Town Drew 1-1 8 Nov H v Bradford Park Avenue Drew 0-0 15 Nov A v Gainsborough Trinity Lost 3-6 22 Nov H v Gloucester City Won 3-1 25 Nov H v Harrogate Town Lost 0-1 Although Colwyn Bay are lying below half way they have an impressive away record this season. Their first League defeat came at Gainsborough although they did lose at FA Cup giant-killers Warrrington Town in mid-October. OPPOSITION PLAYERS The Colwyn Bay side ...

Help the Hatters Update 51

So....the work has begun on the interior of the Bungalow, with the successful first Indoor Working Party held on Thursday 20 November. Numbers definitely do make a difference, and we had 14 in the Bung as work got underway shortly after 6 p.m., with the Vicar ceding leadership rights for the night to ace painter/ decorator Kip Ackram. The targets for the evening were set as......kitchen, main hall and toilets- we were not going to ever make massive progress in one session but the aim was for a decent start. Who does what then? Well....all the ladies headed for the kitchen, which was looking in a less than excellent condition. New fridge etc were pending arrival, but for now a good clean up was called for, and in this respect the team did   brilliantly making great inroads in making the area 100% fit for purpose!   Kitchen team claims victory ! The blokes started in the main concert room, laying down loads of white paint on the walls, but not bef...
