Image
With the 2013/14 season rapidly drawing to a close, I thought that a brief update was called for, so....here we go ( all pics, bar the first 3, used in this update kindly provided by Darren Berry)....... Car Boots. There are 2 car boot events being organised by Help the Hatters during April. The first is this coming Sunday 6th April , followed by Friday 18th. Both these valuable fund raisers take place on the Booth Street Car Park commencing at 06.00 on both days, going on until 13.00. No one is expected to do a full shift , or indeed necessarily turn out at 06.00, any   stretch of time you can manage to donate to us   will be very helpful and much appreciated. To help organiser Angela Moore   , if you can help on either day please   email or phone her on:- angela.moore53@ntlworld.com 0786 7856394 Close Season E P Working Parties. County 0 Hednesford Town 1 : Conference North.

Image
Another Saturday for County, saw another deeply depressing 90 minutes  end with visitors Hednesford Town taking all the points at Edgeley Park in front of not far short of 3000. Hednesford were probably favourites, by virtue of their league position and current form, but even so it was disappointing, if not a great surprise, to see them take an early lead through a Charlie Anagho- Ntamark goal. What was even more disappointing, but unfortunately no great surprise, was the ineffectual response from County, who failed to test keeper Dan Crane throughout the game. I am not sure but maybe  we have to look no further than the midfield for the answer..........the midfield was swamped as Town put numbers in that zone, and took it from there.   Top man, and M.O.M- Stephen O`Halloran ! As a result........this put pressure on the County back line that had done so well on Tuesday. With Stephen O`Halloran again outstanding, they responded well, albeit they had to reor...

Man in a Hat Does Guiseley - Again (includes Youth Match Report)

Image
Having failed to cajole any of my drinking buddies into going to Guiseley to watch County’s Youth side, I’m sat there waiting for kick-off, when I suddenly realise that I’m the only County Supporter here. No Hedgegrower......... no Watts.......... no Joe or Tim..........no Flasher. .....no Eric! Better start to make some notes & take some pictures, in case Hedgegrower needs a report doing. It won’t be as detailed, or accurate, but it will be better than nothing. Won’t it? Confused? Let’s go back to the beginning. Do you recall my ill-fated trip to Guiseley 18 th January regaled in my hilarious article “Man in a Hat Finds Guiseley Closed”, posted 19 th January? You don’t. Well click here to re-read it. I won’t write anything whilst you’re gone, so don’t worry, you won’t miss anything. Ready? Good. I’ll continue. The Plan The plan was simple enough. Day trip to Guiseley to watch the Youth Team & to mop up the real ale pubs I didn’t manage to do...

Worcester City 0 County 0 : Conference North

Image
County came away from Aggborough last night, with a point, that was as valuable as it was hard earned. It perhaps over eggs it a bit to call the point priceless, but you know what I mean, with recent disappointments in mind. There was nothing at all to be downcast about, in County`s performance, on this occasion, indeed they might have snatched a win if the night`s best effort- a first half Jevons rocket, had gone in instead of almost uprooting the woodwork. Apart from that effort, we never really looked that much like scoring though, but neither did Worcester thanks to the County back four who, marshalled superbly by O`Halloran, shut City out in impressive style. All four were tremendous, with Ormson not far behind either. Stephen O`Halloran. Yes.................it was a real joy to stay and applaud the players off at the end.....and do it with feeling! There were 4 changes in County`s starting line up come 7.45, with Moke, Lofthouse, Platt and Battersby in for Howard, D...
