Programme & Memorabilia Fair- 2022

Help the Hatters ` Edd Powell has now staged quite a few `Programme & Memorabilia Fairs over the years.

Whether they were at Our Ladies……the Bung, or the last few years in the 1883 Suite at Edgeley Park courtesy of the Club, they have all enjoyed one essential element- they have been very good events to attend or work at and as fund raisers they have all been very affective.

This year`s event in the 1883 was in support of St Anne`s Hospice, and even by past standards was an outstanding success raising in excess of £1600 for the charity.

Edd`s pre-event prep drew 23 stall holders to the event and well before the official starting time of 10 am they were busy setting up.

Then 10 am saw the event in full swing but the doors were not opened before Edd called for a minute’s silence in memory of the late Queen, which was observed immaculately!

The Help the Hatters team, with John Gaskin gaffering his troops seamlessly,  by this time had already done the equivalent of a day and a half`s graft but quickly took up their positions…..Melanie took on the Help the Hatters pitch    and did really well…..............

....................whilst Dot, Dave, Angela , Ralph and Jules took on the refreshments , and in this respect it was comforting to note that Angela had baked the group one of her special cakes ( a Victoria Sponge)…….

…………..some traditions are essential to hold onto, and this one is right up there!

The refreshments realised £100+ in donations which was excellent.

No mention has been made of Ray and Terry yet, and I put that right now- they were the heavies on the door, and they were busy with 135 paying customers passing their way in the 3 hours of the event.

We offered some decent prizes in the raffle ( see above image) including County Gin, Gordon`s Gin and a bottle of Prosecco and were pleased to add £100 to the total take from this and even more pleased that County legend Jim Gannon drew the winning tickets.

It was well beyond 1pm when the event eventually wound up.

It had been a busy morning but well worthwhile with such a substantial sum being raised for St Anne`s Hospice.

Well done Edd for a cracking event and thank you to the Help the Hatters team for again going above and beyond, and of course the Club for allowing us the use of the 1883 Suite!

Next session for Help the Hatters will be on Tuesday 20 September.

This is a litter pick following the Harrogate home game. We are playing Wolverhampton Wanderers U21 that evening so we will be starting a little earlier at 9.30 am. Please join us if you are able.
