Chesterfield v Stockport County(Mon 2 May 2022)Away Guide- (k.o now 15.00)

Chesterfield FC.,
The Proact Stadium,
1866 Sheffield Road,
Whittington Moor,
CHESTERFIELD, Derbyshire,
S41 8NZ.

Mention Chesterfield and County supporters will think `Saltergate` -a crumbling traditional football ground which had been the scene of numerous epic games twixt the blues and the Spireites, including the 96-97 promotion clincher.

Old hedgies memories of Saltergate include missing the goal in that 96-97 classic, and using the most primitive of loos behind the open terrace  over the years, but the old place had a certain charm about it that is fast disappearing from football in this country.

The most recent memory of visits to these parts  was of  a decent 2-1 County win in October 2020 but this was behind closed doors and rather took the edge off it.

I couldn`t catch the scorer- he was under that huge celebratory pile !

Spectators are back this time and a really excellent game is in prospect if the game at our place in February is anything to go by- hedgegrower can`t wait!

County fans making their first visit  to the Proact will find  a purpose built modern stadium as far removed from the Saltergate model as possible.

We will be housed in the North Stand this time around, and please note there will be no ticket sales or cash entry on the day.

.....................................

Food on offer  includes the locally produced Jacksons Pies. The Peppered Steak and Brampton Ale Pie . There are also Large Steak & Mushy Peas Pies , Sausage Rolls , Cheeseburgers , Burgers , Rollover Hot Dogs  and Chicken Burgers . Plus for the vegetarians Mexican Chilli Bean Pies.

The accoustics at  the away end are good as the roof is relatively low- so make a noise County fans !
