I am not sure just how much I was looking forward to this one.....the weather forecasts had pain written all over them, with not a Michael Fish type optimistic punt anywhere- we were in for snow.....wind.......strong winds.....ice......rain.....even stronger winds......- the only things missing from these dire advance warnings were a plague of frogs and boils! The forecasts understated matters in reality,   as the Dronfield venue was awash with tsunami type winds that threw great mountains of wetness in about fifteen different directions at once! 3/5ths of County`s hardy following! Yes....it was a truly miserable day, but in the end , despite some off the field   nonsense( of which more later)it was worth the effort as County`s table topping Youth Team came back from a half time deficit of1-3 to run out 4-3     winners against host side Chesterfield! The County odyssey   continued at Cemetery   Road last night as a commanding performance , and goals from Jevons and Howard, saw them claim another 3 points with a well deserved, and hard fought 2-0 win against a   Bradford Park Avenue side that pressurised us at times but caved in late on in the face of an irresistible County charge. It was another showing out of the top draw from the blues-totally- commanding in defence, with Lees and Cowen, unshakeable rocks, and resilient and effective going forward when they needed to be late on, although Bradford had a move or two to show us a time or two but lacked a finish, and ,as I say, they faded badly once the first County goal went in. Bradford may be moved to point to a couple of saves by Dibble as an excuse,  but that would be a considerable exercise in straw clutching in my view. He gave a typically Dibbleesque performance sweeping like a third centre back, and brought off a save or two as well, but ...

Scientists have recently established that Uranus and Neptune are likely to have oceans of liquid diamonds, possibly interspersed with an iceberg or two of solid bling!      Scott Duxbury. I have news for them however.....they can save themselves the excessive mileage involved in whizzing off to one or other of said planets, and instead, they should just get down to Edgeley Park where a real gem is on show...a diamond even...I speak of Scott Duxbury who had yet another superb game, when faced with the wily Sean McConville against Stalybridge Celtic today. So brilliant was he.....so completely did the youngster, who was playing college football last year, have the unpopular ex Hatter in his pocket, that the forward lashed out at him bringing him down ,not for the first time in the game, and got sent off for his pains.
