Eastleigh FC v Stockport County ( Saturday 26 March 2022) Away Guide

Eastleigh FC.,
The Silverlake Stadium,
EASTLEIGH, Hants,
SO50 9HT

Eastleigh FC ( formerly Swaythling Athletic FC) were formed in 1946, since when they have made startling progress up the UK football pyramid, culminating in a splendid 7th placed finish  in 2018/19 where the Spitfires only missed out in a Wembley Play Off Final on penalties.

Today`s game will be amongst the toughest the blues will encounter on their travels.

The Eastleigh FC website gives us this on the club`s history-

The Silverlake Stadium.

Silverlake Stadium has undergone extensive redevelopment in recent years and is a decent place to watch a game of football we can opine.

The stadium holds almost 5200 , and  away supporters are accommodated ( seated) in the 2000 seater Mackoy Community Stand ( seen above) which is shared with home specs, and also in the pitch long covered terrace ( below far side).

Good information on the stadium can be viewed here:-

 Sustenance.

Catering sounds curiously good, and last old hedgie heard included a` Spitfire Special`( Cheeseburger/bacon/ pulled pork).
The locals by repute are friendly, but segregation is likely not to give County supporters the chance to mingle too much .

Real Ale nearby :-

Whilst the `Hangar Bar`  and `Sherwood Bar` at the ground, are usually open to home & away fans, this element is reviewed match by match, so  they may very well be home fans only.

So…..  rely on old hedgie`s recommendations then:-

These are firstly the gloriously well named Moldy Fig on Stoneham Rd( SO50 9HQ) just 0.6 m away….

Or the Fleming Arms , 0.7 m away on High Rd ( SO18 2 QN)….
