It is a while since fans were allowed to follow County in GU22 a game that saw  Danny Lloyd claim his first goal since his return to County colours giving James Gannon`s team  a lead within 4 minutes of the start.





Alex Wall equalised , for Woking ,6 minutes later , County settling for a 1-1 draw  and a share of the points.

Lloyd`s goal however was a real belter……and an outstanding display by Jordan Keane were the  consolation that day for the  300+ County fans that made the trip to Surrey to support their team.

The stadium has a capacity of 6000 with seating for 2500.








Although there is usually no segregation at this venue, there probably will be for our visit, in which case we will probably be housed on the Chris Lane Terrace ( photo above). This is an open terrace , so bring the rain gear just in case.

Then…. take the A317 then the A320 towards Woking. Stay on the A320 through Woking town centre.
After passing a hospital on your left at the fork in the road, leave the A320 and branch left into Claremont Road towards Old Woking (A247).
Then turn left onto the A247 Kingfield Road and the  ground is  on the right.
There is no parking available at the ground or on the streets nearby.
The Woking Leisure Centre  is opposite the entrance to the ground and is free to park in for up to three hours.

Estimated Journey Time: 4 hours 10 minutes.

Simply Disgraceful ! This day will rank in infamy    with some of the darkest in our Club`s history- the owners of Stockport County have sacked Jim Gannon…..a dreadful decision......... totally bereft of merit, and one heralded by a shamefully inadequate announcement, as insulting to County fans as it is to Jim. Champions under Jim in our last completed season, fourth in the league after as impressive a win as any Club Chair could wish to witness from his team on Tuesday, despite the interrupted nature of the current season, and clearly playing well, so this smacks of something other than prudence or good decision making and as for being rational and fair………….. “Where`s the goals gonna come from”-is a familiar refrain from those wanting County to ship in a new striker every other week, and County once again fully answered that one with “ from almost everywhere” as goals from defenders Sam Minihan and Ash Palmer secured all the points at the Racecourse Ground today against Wrexham. A 2-0 County lead at half time seemed to signal a rout, but Wrexham fought well upon the re-start and made a real match of it , albeit that an imperious display by County`s superb back line limited them largely to shots from distance. The defensive display from JG`s boys, in the second 45 minutes, if somewhat hard on the nerves, was again excellent , but a late goal to the Welshmen made the last few minutes tenser than perhaps they should have been. Stockport County 4 Accrington Stanley 2 ( Football League 2) Saturday 20 April 2024

          A friend captured the situation nicely as we both descended the steps at the Cheadle End “ there are not many days like that” he said ,and he hit the spot perfectly, we had both just come away from a County game that finished as a party as County disposed of the challenge from Accrington Stanley with a comfortable 4-2 win, and the old place dissolved in a glorious mix of excitement, and emotion as the blues were presented with the League 2 Championship trophy! I say that it was comfortable, but I thought Accrington made a good fist of competing at times, in the end beaten by another clutch of top-class goals- 2 from Wootton , who I thought edged M.O.M ,and one each from   Evans and Sarcevic which did the biz for Dave Challinor`s boys. Their 8 th win in succession took County`s points tally with one match remaining to a mammoth 92 points- still 7 clear of the rest and set up a spectacularly good party on the pitch after the final whistle -more on this later in the repor
