County v Guiseley Preview

Having shared the points with AFC Fylde, County will be looking to do the same with another promotion challenger in Guiseley. This time it will need a win (and 3 points each instead of 2) as Guiseley recorded a comfortable victory at their Nethermoor Road ground early in the season in a game that some County players have since described as the only match this season when they were outplayed throughout the game.

It took a replay before Guiseley managed to come through their FA Trophy tie against Richard Sneekes's Rushall Olympic team. The men who came from behind to win Tuesday's game were:

Two players have played in all 19 Conference North games to date, although none have started every game. However Tuesday's 16 man list shows only three changes to the one that soundly beat County earlier in the season with Lowe, Killock and ex-County youngster Alex Johnson the new names.

Steve Drench.

Keeper Steve Drench has missed just 3 matches and started the season with 4 clean sheets, and now has 9 in total in all competitions. The County front line got three past Steve in the corresponding game last season (details below). He saved a late penalty on Tuesday to clinch the cup victory.

Guiseley's goals have been shared amongst 12 players, plus the help of 3 OGs. Top scorer is Adam Boyes whose 11 goals have all come in league matches. He has scored in both their last two matches with the Hatters - having failed to find the net in 4 appearances for Barrow and one substitute game for our weekend visitors before that.

Adam Boyes.

Former County man Oli Johnson has impressed recently as well and now has 5 goals. His reward has been an extended contract. One of the ever presents is another ex-County man in Danny Boshell, assistant manager at the Yorkshire side, whose brother Nicky also features in the squad.

PREVIOUS MATCHES

Guiseley were on a late run into the play=offs when we welcomed them last season and the 2,764 fans at Edgeley Park saw a goals feast with both sides netting three times. All Guiseley's scorers are still involved with the Yorkshire side but County's hat-trick hero on that, day Phil Jevons, was of course to retire at season's end.

MATCH PROSPECTS

It seems unlikely that there will be changes in County's starting line-up although some of the men on the bench in recent games had a good tough game on Thursday in the Lancashire League Cup with Nathan Woolfe and Jordan Lazenbury both scoring. Lazenbury also scored in the penalty shoot out that took County into the cup final as did Glenn Belezika.

It's another game that is hard to call against one of the most consistent teams in this league during the whole of 2013. This season they have only occasionally dropped out of the play-off places and are still poised to put in a title challenge if Barrow show any signs of weakness. Yet a win will put County right on their tails. County need to break a run of three games without a Vanarama Conference North goal - if they don't it will be longest blank run of any side in the league so far this season,.

VANARAMA CONFERENCE NORTH

This weekend's other slightly curtailed list are listed below. I've also included the full table as there have been a few games affecting both ends of the table since the last weekend of Conference North action.

AFC Fylde v Stalybridge Celtic, Boston United v Brackley Town, Chorley v Colwyn Bay, Gainsborough Trinity v Barrow, Harrogate Town v Bradford Park Avenue, Hyde v North Ferriby United, Leamington v Hednesford Town, Solihull Moors v Lowestoft Town, Stockport County v Guiseley.
Worcester City are in FA Cup action on Sunday when they host FC Halifax Town for a place in the third round.
